There are so many different specialised Ruffwear coats! How do I choose? Stop! You’re reading my mind! Is that what you’re thinking? 💬 Haha!
It’s true. We’re spoiled for choice when it comes to Ruffwear’s practical canine coats. Here are my top tips to make the choice easier specifically for all of us in Australia 🦘.
Ruffwear coats can be divided into three categories depending on the weather conditions you’ll encounter. Here’s some advice as to what you might need depending on where you are in Australia.
💦 Shells: Waterproof/water-resistant shells will sort your dog in all areas in Australia for rain, cool wet conditions or high wind.
🧊 Insulated Jackets: High-loft, synthetic insulation makes for max warmth in the cold. Think Tazzie, Victoria and the Blue Mountains or if you have a dog who really feels the cold. Combine insulated jackets with higher coverage jackets or waterproof layers for the most crazy bad ass Aussie weather.
🌤️ Midlayers: Fleece jackets and technical sweaters like the Fernie and Climate Changer suit most Aussie cool, dry winter climates. This year you’d probably want to pop a shell over them for those colder or wetter days we’ve been getting.

Ruffwear coats can be worn stand alone or in layers. There are 3 different fit types.
#1 Formfitting: Ruffwear has snug, sleeved coats that conform to your dog’s body contours… especially good for short haired dogs and other dogs who really feel the cold. These offer the most body coverage.
#2 Regular Fit: These jackets offer a tailored fit with a bit more wiggle room. They can be layered under Ruffwear’s Relaxed Fit apparel.
#3 Relaxed Fit: Ruffwear’s loosest fit drapes over the body but still is a fairly low profile fit among dog jackets. These can be worn over Ruffwear’s Regular or Form Fitting apparel. If you have a hard-to-fit dog definitely go this style.
